I knew at the age of 8 that I wanted to be a teacher. I come from a long line of teachers. My father, aunt, and great-aunt were all teachers and had a profound impact on my life. As a child, we spent so much time at school with my dad that it became our second home. As a result, I have made it my life’s work to develop great teachers and teacher leaders. I am an award-winning educator with 36 years of experience as a district administrator, instructional coach, teacher, and now, owner of Schoolhouse Mentoring.
After graduating from Wofford College, I began my teaching career totally unprepared for the realities of the classroom. I had no real support other than the teacher’s lounge.
I know that I would have become a Champion Teacher so much faster if I had someone like me to guide me throughout my teaching career as everything in education changed.
with my husband of 31 years, Charles and sons, Adam and Aaron. Some of my favorite things are spending time on the beach, watching British TV and Period dramas, spending time with my college girlfriends, watching Carolina Gamecock sports, and doing mission work with my church.
